The Supernova Collective Vol. 1

29 06 2010

The homies from Virginia put out this joint about a week ago and I haven’t had a chance to listen to it in it’s entirety til now. That’s why it took me a bit to get it posted because I would never put yall on to something I don’t co-sign. However, I knew these fellas right here would not disappoint. We got your usual suspects such as The Beautiful Cycle camp and Sickboi. You also got a gang of emcee’s you might not have heard of yet but once they’re heard I’m sure they’ll garner a few extra fans. Download the entire mixtape here for free. Two up, two down!

Yongie Phresh – Blame

28 06 2010

This Music Monday post is extra special to me. I proudly present my youngboh’s first released song. “Blame” is laid over Akon‘s “Blame it on Me” track and Yongie Phresh does it justice. Me and Johnnyphlo helped record this joint ourselves at The Bassment Studio so that’s why I’m extra proud. Yongie is still new at all of this but I see a lot in store for the lil’ homie. Philly in this biiitch! Let’s get ‘em!

Jackie Chain – Haze

21 06 2010

Jackie Chain remixed Jbar and Soulja Boy’s Daze and made it an ode to his favorite hobby, smoking Haze.  I like Chain’s remix better and not just because he’s half Korean. To be honest Jackie Chain is not nearly the most lyrical rapper and when I first heard him I thought he was a joke but I did some research and he’s a respectable artist. Again, he’s not nice with the lyrics but he keeps his music fun and I can fuck with that. He’s also signed to Universal so we should be keeping an eye out for homie.

Anita Oh x Dan Koh – Replay That Pyramid (Cover)

14 06 2010

Charice Pempengco and IYAZ put out the single “Pyramid” a few months back and that has been climbing the charts. IYAZ first single “Replay” also had stupid spins on the radio and is still going strong. Anita and Dan mashed the two up to create this arrangement and I’m feeling it a lot. They’re just starting this Youtube thing so help Anita out by subscribing to her page. I love seeing my Philly people doing they thing but I’m definitely not being bias when I say these two got talent and I see much bigger things for them. Keep working yall!

Captain Burrito – Motown Philly (Cover)

10 06 2010

Last night was lame. The Philadelphia Flyers lost in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals so I was just left a sad man wearing too much orange. Pride in my city is the only reason I would wear that much orange. I felt the need to find something to boost up the Philly ego once again so I present you Captain Burrito’s cover of Boyz II Men’s Motown Philly. I don’t know if that’s his real stage name but that’s all I get from his Youtube page. I am a huge Boyz II Men fan and honestly, Burrito hits the notes a little flat but a fun twist on the new jack swing classic. But anyways, Philly Phorever!

DUKE feat. Decipher – She Be Runnin’

2 06 2010

The homie DUKE from the West coast has been working hard. He just released a track that I had the privilege to feature on. You can tell I switched up my style for this one cause this isn’t my usual type of track but an artist has to be versatile, right? DUKE definitely has his own style and is nice with the effects so it’s only natural that he feature on my album The Effect as well. You’ll hear that track someday soon. For now enjoy “She Be Runnin’”. Download it here for free.

AJ Rafael x Randolph Permejo x Andrew Garcia x Matt x Jasmine Rafael – Stand By Me (Cover)

1 06 2010

This is another one of my favorite songs of all time. The classic original is by Ben E. King. A fun fact about this song is that I usually sing this at every sound check before any show to test the mics and as a pre-show ritual I guess. I don’t sing it nearly as good as these guys though. AJ is a Youtube superstar and Andrew made it pretty far on American Idol. The other guys might be big too but I’m not as familiar with them. You can tell they had a lot of fun with this video and I had fun watching and listening.
