I’ve been receiving some ill tracks and mash ups ever since I dropped The Sound Effect. I just recently got this one so I thought I’d drop it for Music Monday. SJ dropped this off in my inbox. He mashed up the track I’m Ready off of my album The Effect and put my verse along with DFD’s and Jay’s on Epik High’s track The Future. Manifest x MYK x JL x Ailee – Catch Me If You Can Seoul Remix (Live)
19 02 2011A few days ago the homies in Korea asked if they could get the instrumental for Catch Me If You Can so they could perform the joint. I wanted to say no out of pure spite because I couldn’t be there. HAHA just playing. I knew they’d rock out to that joint and I definitely wanted to see what they do with it. Mani got it started with his verse from our track “Popular” off his mixtape Open Bars. MYK killed it with his smooth verse coming next. JL turned Seoul into Murdertown with his entire verse done in double-time. Honestly, I was surprised Ailee actually did her rap verse but YO! She shut that down! Loved that. My peoples breathing a little more life intro the track and I’m feeling the variation. What yall think?

Decipher feat. Lyricks – Life (Music Video)
14 02 2011I was in NOVA (NOrthern VirginiA for those of you who aint know) this past weekend. It seems as though VA is just full of rappers and that’s one reason I like heading down south. Being around like-minded people is always cool and keeps me motivated about bidness. I also go down there just to chill and get away from time to time. Everybody needs time away from the daily grind, right? This trip I got to enjoy both sides of the game equally. My man Lyricks has been on his video grind heavy and when he approached me to shoot a visual for our track “Life” that appears The Effect I was more than down. It’s really dope to see how Stan Dillinger (Lyrick’s director alter-ego) does so much with so little. He executes his vision out of almost nothing. He basically freestyles these videos. Ill, huh? When I woke up that day I had no idea I was going to be shooting a video but I think that’s whats dope about it. The track is called “Life” and that’s really what it was, just another day in the life. Let me know what yall think of the track!

Decipher – The Introduction (Music Video)
28 12 2010“The Introduction” is the first music video coming from The Effect. Descendant Films did a great job with this so a huge shout out to them! I hope to work with these guys again. Their vision and work ethic is something you hope to see in everybody you work with.
The video was shot completely in Philadelphia. We could’ve done the stereotypical Art Museum, skyline shots but we wanted to showcase a grittier Philadelphia, a realer Philadelphia. There’s no hook on this song, just over 2 minutes of straight rapping. The song is really just me airing out what I need to before I can go on with the rest of the album. This first track off the album releases some tension and then it’s smooth sailing for the rest of The Effect. You can download the track here. Sam Ock & J.Han – Never Change
28 12 2010Sam Ock is the 2010 ISA winner! This song here is where I first saw him. I was thoroughly impressed with both Sam and J.Han. Sam’s voice on the hook though is what really raised my eyebrows. From the first few notes I started calling him the Korean Michael Buble. He produced this track as well which goes to tell you that Sam is musically talented all around. This track has nearly a million views which is huge! He’s gone viral with a completely original track and you will be hearing more of Sam, I’m sure.
Sam produced and features on Move Right On on The Effect. I take an introspective look at life on this track. Sam came to me with the concept of the track. It’s about the fleeting joys in life, the temporary highs. The message of the song is to tell you that the joys of the world will only get you so far and there is a greater purpose out there. This is definitely one of my favorite songs on the album and it was actually the easiest to write for me. I literally wrote my verses in less than an hour because something came over me and I just felt moved to come straight from the heart. You can hear what I mean January 4th!

Ailee – The Climb (Cover)
27 12 2010I’ve posted another cover of this song before by Ahmir so needless to say I really like this song. I dislike Miley Cyrus if that saves me any street cred lol. But the message of this song is so dope and the lyrics are written well and I know you can relate to them, don’t front. Ailee does her thing with this one. This song is not an easy one to do well and it doesn’t showcase too much range but the power and energy is necessary for a good performance of this song and Ailee seamlessly pulls this off. You got it, lil sis!
Ailee features on track 12 of The Effect that I released a few weeks back. Catch Me If You Can has been getting great feedback. Some people might not even know about because it kinda fell in the shadow of the remix but the original is a favorite of mine. When Ailee and I get together on a track we got a special type of chemistry that creates great music. The Effect is only a week away!
