LYRICS: Catch Me If You Can Remix (Decipher, J.Reyez, Dumbfoundead, Flowsik, Chan, Johnnyphlo, Jay Park, Ailee)

23 12 2010

Ailee:

I’ll never make it out alive
I been living like I’m dying
and I know I got to go
I’m never coming back
I don’t want to see you crying
You got to catch me if you can x4

Decipher:

Eh, I don’t think you can and shit, so I’mma hit them with a damn remix
handle this like a man with kids, like family pics, I stand, you sit
I rock this beat so loud, boom boxes be blown out
and not gonna stop ’til the cops come lock us up, 2Pac would be so proud
and Biggie too… Life After Death
I’mma make it count, vampire bite at your neck
might catch your breath, but no way you catching me
try a mother fucker with a lesser speed, go play with the referee
I’m tearing through you like a barracuda
bury you up in a pair of coolers, keep you very 추워
who the dude up (in here)x3 with the rarest buddha
very true to staying high, fly, I am a parachuter
nearly threw up when I wrote this song, now how dare we do a
remix, rest in peace to the beat, I barely knew you
do you know how many people think they’re Larry Hoover?
while I am in a class of my own, I think I’m Ferris Beuler/

J.Reyez:

Now I been grinding on my own, producing my own music
the truth is, you got to lose once just to prove it, yeah
and you got to watch your every mistake
cause your image is crucial, people tend to degrade
cause the mainstream is all about clothes and the fashion
hoes and the cash and who knows what can happen
the media got us really messed up
they expect us to sell you so we can be the next up
everybody chasing for the money and the fame
but I’mma keep it 100 for the game
cause I believe being myself could be worth it
everybody can relate to not being perfect
the haters that show no love for their locals
videos and promos, mixing my own vocals
I gotta put work in for the top and im determined
I’m just another person, I’m gonna make it out alive

Dumbfoundead:

They can’t catch this villian like John Dillinger
this ex con got villagers evacuating children and women first
this Dennis the Menace administering pain to ministers
a living thirst to kill a verse, to leave all your feelings hurt
I love my Guiness and Henny, pretty chickens in mini skirts
don’t care about my image, get the picture you timid nerds?
catch my composite sketch with a hat and Knocksteady shirt
on the 6 o’ clock evening news, man, I hope your antenna works
5’11″ male with a sinister little smirk
had a visitor break  me out by flirting with prison workers,
jimmied the lock, inserted the scissors, turnt it in a circular
motion and I was ghost, dawg; Forest Whitaker
what is he in it for? as he’s watching the city burn
giggling with his pretty semi he named Jennifer
BRRR, hear the kitten purr, without a freaking permit
he lets it out on these vermon without a warning, I know…

Flowsik:

Catch me if you can, when you know you can’t
literally neck to neck from where I stand
the only thing you shaking is my hand
Jigga when I make plans, blueprints on making grands
Lebron at 15, I’m bound to ball
sudden moves, no homo, blows from the counter cross
heavy back, hardwears, yall is micro soft
pay your Bills and hit the Gates before your mountain falls
running from the Holocaust, leaving paper trails
raise sails, going with the flow do I smell betrayel?
they want me caged well, I’m tryna add flavor cause the game tastes stale
on the merge of major fail
decipher J’s phlo, leave you dumbfounded
overseas, Jay Park make moves before I talk about it
catch me, Randy Moss? I doubt it, say goodbye
cause when I’m gone for good, I’mma ride

Chan:

You can catch me if you can, on the real, it’s just a joke
all I need’s a track, pair of Pumas and I’m Bolt
you’ll be chewin on my dust, feel the gust of my wings
all you haters looking up, peep the bottom of my Timb’s
forgive me of my sins, I know I let you down
remember me for me, not the shit I did with Uptown
a lot of things changed since I left, a lot of yall grown
an Asian act on the charts with the number one song
popping bottles in my ride, next to three chicks
fuck with me or D, you getting thrown out the g6
remix, player, catch me if you can
better get yourself a passport, I’m in the motherland
I’m making moves while you’re moon walking, stay rocking
in every headset with the red b marking
your favorite rapper stays on my dick
Big Chan, so fly, man, I’m on that shit

Johnnyphlo:

쉿! 닥치고 들어봐, 내게 딱까고 물어봐
10년후의 내 모습은? HA, more popular than Hova
모두 밖으로 끌려가, 나는 끝까지 남아있길
나머지는 click clack, brip brap, gotta kill
so you prolly need protection
I’m tryna turn my dream into reality; Inception
이 rap scene을 들었다 놨다하는 나라 팔 아파
I’m a leader, this rap game like twitter, 나를 따라와
I’m given the days, to live it away, I’m young, 니 시간은 tickin’ away
그래도 i’m doin it better, 아무리 못해도 너랑은 비기는데
내겐 언제나, 제일로 재밌는 게임
매일매일 랩으로 생계를 챙기는게
I’ve been in a fight or two, but never been the type to lose
if I did, I couldn’t forget it, how to ride a bicycle
죽기보다 싫은 실팰 피해 난 달려
오직 음악만이 나를 살려
cuz I’ll never make it alive

Jay Park:

You better hop on the bandwagon before you get left behind
never be swagger jacking cause I got the freshest jive
my skills, I let it shine till I leave the haters next to blind
my peoples man, I got you, for the others? leave the rest to fry
I’m here to prove that there ain’t no other like me
even though my skin ain’t dark, man don’t take my color lightly
I’m ripping it, killing it, thinking of iller shit, rapping, you feeling it good like a clitoris
please don’t be bitter, bitch, this ain’t a hit or miss, this is so definite, I am the best there is
haha yall be snoozing, I’m a rocketeer in the far east moving
a lot of mothafuckers tend to call me stupid but yall root for a gang of kids that I influenced
I’m a MC, bitch
beast mode stays on but dont tempt me, kid
out of this world yall, they be beamin me up
and by the time you think you caught up, yall be eatin my dust/ Peace

Schoolboy Duke feat. Jin – Baby It’s You

20 12 2010

The homie Duke sent this track in to Jin for a contest to get a feature with him and ended up winning like winners do. Baby It’s You is a very strong radio single in my opinion. Hook is super catchy which I know Duke is nice at. Verses are mean as well. Jin kills it. It’s a fun track for the females and gives me a summer vibe in the middle of winter.

Duke arranged track 11 on The Effect which is titled Beauty Queen. This is also a female friendly radio single type of joint. We released a teaser of this a few months back and got the girls anxiously waiting for it. You won’t have to wait much longer because it is almost here!

DJ Zo – Freestyle Cut

19 12 2010

DJ Zo is literally the  sickest DJ I’ve been had the privilege of seeing work. Mind you, I’ve seen Qbert do his thing in a little dungeon club in Korea and still Zo amazes me. In this clip Dumbfoundead introduces Zo and Zo does some freestyle cuts for the camera. Trust me, he never disappoints. It’s a very short clip where he cuts up an old school sample but you get an idea of what the man can do.

Zo features on Angry Asian Man with myself and Manifest. Instead of a repetitive hook he cuts up a few choice quotes from different sources. I don’t want to give too much away because I think the element of surprise is a part of what is sick about this track and the scratches. Make sure you leave room on your iPod for Angry Asian Man feat. Manifest & DJ Zo on January 4th!

Manifest feat. Lyricks – Bounce

16 12 2010

This song right here got some serious bounce to it, so the title is obviously suiting. These two usually don’t typically rock beats like this but I would never put it past them. It’s one of their older tracks but it still knocks. Manifest incorporates his signature rapid fire flow and kills it and Lyricks comes in to anchor the track and does his name justice.

Manifest features on a track titled Angry Asian Man of The Effect. Out of the few people that have heard the album a lot of them have said this is their favorite song. The beat is uses a haunting choir sample and has a progressive hard electric guitar riff for the build up. We speak upon the struggles of being Asian in this industry and this country. It’s one of my favorite tracks too so I can’t wait for yall to fall in love with it like I have.

Andrew Choi – Miss Independent (Cover)

15 12 2010

I first heard Andrew at a show where he played with his ex-band The Ide’s. This guy has an amazing voice and a stage presence to match. This video here he covers Neyo’s Miss Independent. They put no effect’s on his voice so what you’re hearing is just raw talent and what you would hear live. This was recorded at Red Robot Studios. The engineer there actually did a lot of engineering for The Effect as well.

Andrew appears on track 8 of the album on a song called I Wanna Be. I seriously love this song. It was one the earlier songs to actually be recorded for the album and I still love listening to it. It’s definitely something for the ladies and I plan to release it as a single during the winter when love is in the air. He croons on the hook and wrote the hook as well. You have to hear it for yourself, trust me. You’ll fall in love with on January 4th!

JL – Days Go By

13 12 2010

If you don’t know by now, the homie JL is a monster with this rap shit. This particular track gives me a real Nas – New York State of Mind vibe. His style kind of reminds me of Nas in general, actually. JL gets his story telling on in Days Go By and keeps the listener intrigued. This track is one of my favorites on his new mixtape Guaranteed Raw that you can purchase here. Support real music!

JL appears on track 7 of #TheEffect on a joint titled Another Level. This song got a grimey, gutter, deep bassline feel to it and I knew JL would shine on a track like this. The hook is haunting and all that and we just letting you know that we’re on another level with our shit. Most definitely something to check out once the album drops on January 4th.

Furis – Batter Up

11 12 2010

I’ve known of Furis for a while and he’s been honing his skills as long as I have. He reminds me a lot of Lupe Fiasco who is one of my favorite rappers so that’s saying a lot. I can tell by his beat selection he loves that soulful sound and really tries to deliver a message through his lyrics and this Batter Up joint is no different. It’s only a promo video unfortunately but you can check out the entire song right here.

The homie Furis shows up on track 6 of #TheEffect in a track called Made It. It’s basically a feel good track talking about there’s nothing to worry about because we already feel like we made it because we just love what we do. Furis definitely got that West Coast vibe since he coming from LA so I thought that would be dope to see both coasts collaborate on this joint. Check it out January 4th when the album drops! It’s almost here baby!

Lyricks – My Will Aside (Live)

9 12 2010

This might be my favorite Lyricks joint. We’ve done countless shows together and each time we do I hope he does this song because I’d be sitting there on the edge of my seat, eyes not blinking and shit and just taking in these crazy dope lyrics.

The cross was two twigs, their choir was two kids, legs skinny like toothpicks, making a beat with two sticks.

He sincerely pours his soul out in this song and the energy is so sincere and genuine that even if you don’t share his views of faith you have to respect his candidness and honestly. You’re lucky if you get to catch this joint live but in case you can’t, check out the video. Oh yeah, he’s on tour with the Wu-Tang Clan. Peace.

Lyricks is featured on track 4 of The Effect titled Life. Produced by the same producer of “One of the Best” and has a similar DJ Premier sound. I was tempted to call it “Two of the Best” even. The hook samples some Hiphop heavyweights while we both go in and describe life in our own words in our own verses and then share the third verse. You’ll like this one. Be excited!

ChaCha feat. Jay Park – Speechless

7 12 2010

In our 2nd post from #TheEffect series of posts we showcase Jay Park. This song was actually produced by Jay’s homie ChaCha who I got to meet the same day I met Jay. I’ve posted a track from ChaCha before and I’ve come to learn this dude got an amazing song writing ability. Lyrics and melodies are so sick. The two friends come together on Speechless and deliver a great R&B track. I actually have it on repeat as I type this. I hope to work with ChaCha soon. Let’s get something going man! You can buy the track for a mere 99 cents here.

Jay appears on track 2 on The Effect alongside me and Dumbfoundead. He anchors the song in the third verse where he spits harder than I’ve heard him on other tracks. He even incorporates a double time flow and some ill punches as well. I know a lot of yall are looking forward to hearing it and you will be able to very soon! January 4th is coming soon!

Dumbfoundead – Bullets of Truth

6 12 2010

I put my album The Effect into printing production today so to celebrate that I’ll be showcasing songs from artists that feature on the album. We’re starting with…

This might be the first actual song I ever heard from Dumb. Like a lot of people out there I knew Dumb for his Grindtime battles but I was still impressed when I heard him on wax. I’ve also seen homie perform this live a few times and it amazes me how he gets through that second verse. The homie Lyricks directed the video and he makes a cameo appearance in it. The choppy effect you see in the video was actually a mistake that happened during the upload but it looked pretty dope so they decided to keep it. You’ll be impressed with the track as well so check it out!

Dumb features on track 2 of The Effect, “I’m Ready”. He really addresses some issues that I assume have been surrounding him and his career in his verse. Be excited for that track when the album drops January 4th!
